The LEAD Maryland Fellowship Program, a University of Maryland Extension Signature Program is provided through a collaborative effort between the LEAD Maryland Foundation and the University of Maryland Extension, along with many other organizations, businesses, and individuals that work to fund, plan, implement, and evaluate the program and its activities. LEAD Maryland Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to identifying and developing leadership to serve agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities.

The LEAD Program awards a two-year fellowship to selected participants, creating classes of 20-25 emerging leaders. The LEAD Fellowship curriculum focuses on providing public issues education, skills building, leadership development, and personal growth.

LEAD Class XI

LEAD was and continues to be a great opportunity for me. Through the program I got to see more of the state than I would ever have on my own. In addition I got to witness the true diversity in community as well crops grown. The program really gave proof that Maryland is “America in miniature.“.

Our seminars were based all around the state giving us the opportunity to witness the unique challenges and opportunities each region has. From the forests of Western Maryland, to the Port of Baltimore. From the Eastern Shore that focuses on turning grain into feed which in turn feeds the chicken industry. From the urban farms in the city of Baltimore to the General Assembly in Annapolis.

Our class has the distinction of being the Covid class and our 2 year program became a 4 year. Ultimately it wasn’t a bad thing though. We grew, we networked, we learned and we treasured every moment of it.
I cannot recommend this program enough.
